Book Recommendation: Career Renegade: How to Make a Great Living Doing What You Love by Jonathan Fields

For years I worked retail, sometimes three jobs at a time. All that time I knew I wanted to work for myself, but I had no idea what I wanted to do. That’s not entirely true. I had too many ideas and was afraid to embrace just one. What I needed was time and a guide. I had to quit one of my jobs to get more time, but I found the guide when I discovered Jonathan Fields. He has a great website on helping people find their potential and he has written a couple of great books on the subject. The one that helped me was Career Renegade. If you need help deciding which path to take this book can help you, also.

Jonathan gives many examples of people who have changed their lives by starting their own businesses. Sometimes the career they ended up with was not the one they expected, but it always turned out to be something they loved. The advice in this book does not just help you find your passion, but it helps you find a way to be successful as well.

Once you have decided on a career path this book helps you lay the bricks to success. Jonathan gives you many ideas on how to create a thriving business. From social networking, to marketing, to becoming an expert, this book walks you through everything you need to succeed. What helped me the most was that he has used many of these ideas in his own career so I know they are solid.

This book is more than a how-to book. It is an inspirational read. On those days when self-doubt gets the best of me I read of other people’s success and I keep moving along my own path. Career Renegade is for all those who know there is a better life out there, but need guidance to reach it.
